Games likely to be played will be Starcraft 2, Bad Company 2, Call of Duty 4, FlatOut 2, and what ever else may be around.
See all of you there.

KCBD 90 - Wrap Up

KCBD 90 was not one of the most successful of events, but I feel we learned quite a bit from this event. We have probably a dozen or more lessons learned, so without further adieu, what I have learned.
1. The KCCA is the Kansas City Corvette Association and loves to gather around Independence square on the same weekend as KCBD 90.
2. Kansas City has a lot of Corvettes.
3. Vanman is still alive and likes BBQ. (Hello Mr. Vanman)
4. Some features on Battle.net can be handy from time to time.
5. Apparently the SilenX fans aren't all that great and tend to seize up from time to time.
6. Clean those fan filters from time to time.
7. Crack Brownies, Vegetable Pizza, Trail Mix are all hits at KCBD.
8. Always leave someone you trust behind to watch your electronics when you leave for munchie runs.
9. Bars may close about 1:30AM in Missouri, but people tend to wonder around for at least another hour afterward.
10. The Pop machine is no longer the bit draw it used to be at KCBD.
11. Apparently people on a bike can ask for change and the brag about parents that are teachers being worth more than 3 IT guys and still expect to get some change. (Alcohol may have been involved.)
12. Obama apparently met Truman and failed to recognize the mayor of Independence. (Alcohol may have also been involved.)
See all of you in six weeks.

KCBD 89 Wrap-up

KCBD as it was meant to be played. Hours upon hours of destruction with low gravity instagib CTF. Some time wasted, although I had fun with Starcraft Broodwars. A little bit of fun with Battlefield Bad Company 2, much more time went into older and by my definition, better games.
We also found out that Unreal Tournament 2003 can be played on an Intel graphics chip. Scary but tru.
We had some crazy adventures and great BBQ. Hopefully a few more people will join in next time. Looks like the schedule for the next event will be August 14th unless we work on some other scheduling for a special occasion such as the Starcraft 2 launch

We have new forums. The old one is still accessible from the Old Forum link on the side nav bar. Unfortunately you will need to recreate your user account in the new forum. We are starting out with a blank slate do to corruption and spamming. Sorry for the inconvenience.

KCBD 89 - Decide When in the forums.

Next event will fall on a Holiday Weekend. So we have to decide now, keep it as is, move it forward, or move it back. The choice is yours. I will adjust my schedule accordingly.
Either way, I plan on play a lot more Battlefield Bad Company 2 now that the webbinet connection doesn't fail us. We had 7 connections and very few drops after we figured out why the connection was puking. There is still some debate on whether to get a bigger pipe to the site.
Right now, I don't see a reason to go with bigger and better, but then again, if we can get 20 people to the event, we might have to change that.

If you happened to make it to the last event, you would realize that many of us had a blast with Battlefield Bad Company2. It was an impressive game and popular to boot.
Odds are we will be going at it again on May 22nd and hope everyone can join in. More will be played, but Bad Company 2 is a definite.
Hope to see you all there.

Global Tetrinet Tournement at KCBD 87
|

You read that correctly. KCBD 87 marks not only the return of, but also the hosting of the largest tournement we have ever hosted in KCBD history. We look to host 200 players from around the globe and go from 12pm Saturday April 10th until whenever the tetrinet World Champion is decided. There is a $15,000 prize put up by Jim's Autoshop on 135th and Antioch. So if you have any car problems, go there and ask for Jim, he will fix you right up no matter if you have a domestic car or an import. But back to the main event. We will have the developers there from 6pm where they will answer questions on how they come up with such a radical game changing software. At 8pm we will be hosting a Sushi dinner with extremely rare Yantze River Dolphin for you to sample. We will also be hosting a private live Nine Inch Nails Concert after the the first 128 players are eliminated. Trent Reznor will be on hand to sign autographs afterwards as well as be able to play in the later rounds as he and his bandmates all get a bye for the first round of play.
Now admission is still $20 for this event on April 10th, but you need to prepay by midnight tonight to get in on the fun.
Oh, and for all of you, I have one last thing to announce. I will be stepping down as Head Organizer to make for the return of Cali. Cali has announce that he will be returning April 10th to resume his role as the KCBeatdown Head Organizer. Be sure to greet him properly and challenge him to a game of Tetrinet.
A special thanks goes out to KC Geek folks for making this tetrinet tournement possible and to Jim's Autoshop on 135th and Antioch.
Everyone have a great day.

KCBD 87 - No Moar Moving around...

If anyone remember the last event, or the two mini events going on, you would all realize the fun we had half way through the event when we were double booked with a wedding shower. My hopes are that won't happen again.
Anyway, our next event is April 10th which will be our 87th event unless we lost count some where. But anyway, let's all get together and frag something.
I will be there with Bad Company 2, trying to blow some buildings up. I think if we decide to sell out to some newer games, they should be worth while. Bad Company 2 minus some of the bugs that are still being worked out, actually lives up to the hype.
I can't wait to see all of you and say hello to your mother for me.
